Working together with scientists from the OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences, #tide ocean material® developed an award-winning method, based on a mechanical up-cycling principle, of processing waste plastics recovered from the oceans. Swiss precision and innovation go hand in hand with the new DS-1 Powermatic 80. Sustainable and clever: a new generation of watch straps Common to all three models are the quick-change system for the straps, a domed sapphire crystal, transparent case back and, naturally, the Double Security (DS) concept. The blue version is the trendsetter of the trio, with rose gold-coloured elements, a five-link stainless steel bracelet and a blue fabric strap in #tide ocean material®. Silver-coloured hands and indexes are set off by a Milanese bracelet and a grey fabric strap in #tide ocean material®. The light grey DS-1 Powermatic 80 offers a pure, modern look. The brown variant with yellow gold accents is complemented by a stainless steel Milanese bracelet and a dark brown leather strap. Each of the three versions has its own character. The 40 mm stainless steel case now frames domed dials in dark blue, chocolate brown or light grey with a sunray finish and faceted indexes. The clear design of the DS-1 makes it the modern classic in the Certina collection.
Timeless and stylish: three powerful colours for the DS-1 Powermatic 80 One presents a totally new option: a high-quality fabric strap made of #tide ocean material®, which is based on plastics fished from the ocean – the ideal accessory for an eco-friendly style. Three dynamic models appear in powerful colours – dark blue, grey and brown – each equipped with two different, easily interchangeable straps. The Powermatic 80 calibre makes a power reserve of up to 80 hours possible! So you can leave this watch for up to three days before having to set it anew - if you can do without it for that long.The mechanical DS-1 lends Certina’s watchmaking tradition a modern, urban face, as the latest versions prove with great flair. Power reserve is the time a fully wound mechanical watch runs until it stops - usually between 38 and 42 hours. The Swiss-Made balance spring has a titanium base and is therefore exceptionally resistant to temperature variations and incredibly shock-resistant. This innovative material has been developed to increase resistance to magnetic fields. The beating heart of this model is a Powermatic calibre with an entirely new balance spring made of Nivachron(TM). This elaborate display allows the date to be read quickly and easily. The big date, also called panorama date, is a particularly popular display showing the date in an enlarged date window by means of two discs placed either next to each other or overlapping. A large date display window at 6 o'clock, together with finely faceted wedge-shaped indices and long hands, guarantee easy readability. A 'fade' effect and sunray finish enhance the intense green tones and give the watch a real sense of depth. The rounded dial is reminiscent of watches from the 1960s. To mark the occasion, Certina is proud to present a spectacular special model with a green and black dial, mesh strap and, of course, the original DS Concept for maximum resistance.
